End of Khrysalis - Shadow Palace Showdown

So it shall be, that I finally wrap up this post series a month after actually finishing Khrysalis. It's been almost four years since Celestia and my quest-posts began, and it's gone from Morganthe's introduction to her defeat. All things come to an end, though, including the presence of the Shadow Lady.

The defeat-warlords-again dungeon was particularly frustrating. But it does prevent the Spiral from being rewritten, after all.

That's reassuring *sigh*

'Final Countdown' for Malistaire, 'Final Challenge' for Morganthe. Time to tell Morganthe she can't sing.

Yeah, she gets beyond creepy here.

Cue the battle pictures!

 Very appropriate that a level 22 spell should kill the final Morganthe.

No idea where that leaves my dead memory..

Go figure - Morganthe and Malistaire are both floating in space now.

Posing over what I shall call Morganthe's Nebula :P

"From the shadows I strike, and the skies will fall" seems to have backfired...

Dyvim was definitely the best part of Khrysalis ;)

lol, not sure how I feel about Arlen bugs.

"We"? I haven't been locked up for eons like you, man.

Ohhhh. Gross. How did so many creatures fit under that hood?

Obvious Third Arc clues. I'm most excited for Polaris, honestly. Seems like a frozen Celestia with penguins.

Ambrose's indifferent demeanor is odd. Did he anticipate Old Cob's weird awakening or just downplay it? Unlike the end of Malistaire's saga, there are a lot of specific questions that follow the end of the Second Arc. The biggest one, though - will it be over a year before the eleventh main world comes out? :P

Once again, the community settles in for an inevitable wait, hopefully equipped with teasers. Another side world like Grizzleheim (which came out between DS and CL) would be nice, too...

For the last time until whenever,

Happy Questing!

Khrysalis - Broken Dreams

It's the shortest area of Khrysalis, but probably the most informative. It's Radiance, but also Remembrance... in a really twisted way.

What did I say? Back to Ghost Avalon :P

PLOT TWIST! ... Well, not yet.

Eww, a slightly sympathetic Morganthe.

And an eviller Malory? D:

I must admit, it was fun playing as a weaker Death character. Even if it was Morganthe..

Which means, instead of terrorizing Avalon, she had to terrorize the whole Spiral *sigh*.

Theeeerrre's the plot twist.

So was colliding heads with Morganthe a possible catalyst for Malistaire's doomed Spiral takeover? Why did Morganthe seek [Undead] Malistaire's help in Azteca if they were at odds once? This opens up a lot of questions. The only obvious fact we learn from this episode is the final event that led to Morganthe's dismissal from Ravenwood. Ah well.

Battling enemies with an already set deck was sort of a cool throwback experience. The battles were pretty difficult, but brief and manageable. Kind of miss that type of system.

Time for Sardonyx!
Basically the Mantis answer to Bastion, Sardonyx (aka Zha-Te-:Ke:-Zang-Zeeyun) was likely a once vibrant community, but has withered under the Shadow Queen. Even the ruling Troika Council lost influence as Morganthe's warlord Balor took power.

This is a pretty awesome place to take over, admittedly.

Time out to get my Medusa pet! Really, Phorcys?

Got to chill with Mr. Taz afterwards :)

Had to deal with a little superiority complex to prepare for...

Well, his superiority complex is more well-founded.

Nothing a Ninja Pig - and a few other attacks - can't handle.

Viva la revolución!
(Happy almost Cinco de Mayo :P)

Next up is the Khonda Desert! I'll be back next weekend, hopefully.

Happy Questing!

Azteca - The End/The Beginning - Khrysalis

Oh geez, Khrysalis is out. Now I have no excuse but to finish this post, though I doubt many people will read this no-longer-relevant subject, so I'm doing a little combo-post . I got a new laptop this week, so I couldn't access Wizard101 or make this blog post *before* Khrysalis came out. That said, here's the overdue end-of-Azteca quest post. Hopefully by next week, I'll have done a considerate amount of questing in Khrysalis to make another post by then. Note that I'm writing this while starting Khrysalis :P

Way back in July-August (it doesn't feel like that long ago!), I finally took the final steps towards post-apocalyptic doom. Here, *dramatic pause* is my story. Or the dinosaur's story. Whatever.

The floating blobs of land weren't so bad. The varied climates and creatures all in interconnected islands was an interesting concept. Naturally, there were a few overly-tough bosses to encounter.

:'(
..Is he crying through his ear?

Crushing some bone marrow :D
If I haven't already said before, Azteca is hard. I was felled by mob turtles and pterodactyls several times ... whoops. Thankfully, those guys are losing 20% of their health when Khrysalis is released ->

 Before:                          versus..
After:

They also lose a pip! None of the bosses have changed health/difficulty, but at least their minions will be easier to take out. I'm nearing the point where I'll have to do Azteca again on 2 alt characters, so the difficulty drop will be a breath of fresh air.

Oh geez...
I ended up hitching a spot in a W101 Central boss-farming event for later Aztecan bosses. Soloing Belloq in Zafaria is one thing, but at 4x the health in Azteca? Nope.

Some more soloing aaand...

Ding! My first Promethean :)

I'm not Azteca's leader, STOP ABDUCTING ME!

The final challenge! With a bit of help from knowledgeable wizards, it isn't too difficult.

3 years later, the prophecy finally makes sense.

Whoaaa ..
Where'd he go?!
Somehow, the thought of a deranged undead necromancer floating through the Spiral troubles me. Hopefully he doesn't land in Wizard City again.

So profound.. it would definitely take me a long time to analyze this passage if I were in English class!

Sorry, dinos..

While the outcome is sad, it does make sense - plus we can revisit Azteca whenever we want, albeit in a state of falling meteor shards.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And now, the beginning of Khrysalis!
First, a visit to your neighborhood zebra.
Yes please :D
In comparison, Medusa just does 770. Considering that many bosses are stun-resistant, her double-round stun is moot much of the time. I think Artorius will be seeing some battle action.
So is this neat portal always going to just stand here in the Ice Tower now?
First glimpse of Khrysalis. Like the last world of the Malistaire saga, the sky is of one color - green this time. I sense that I'll like Khrysalis about as much as Dragonspyre the first time around. Long, generally dull, but with an explosive finish that everyone will like. Just a few more months until we know.
Morganthe's that old?
Ooh.. those sound like some good last words.
Is this how they create all spiral keys? This is some pretty twisted stuff.
To kill you.. wait, I can't say that..
Trying out the new Artorius spell, which is essentially him summoning a water serpent.
And that's that for Bastion after saving a cute warrior mouse.
I feel fairly certain that the first half of Khrysalis won't take me 9 months to finish. Or so I hope.
Be prepared, Morganthe.
Now it's time to get some more instructions from my new mouse friend, Dyvim.
Happy Questing!
