Theorycrafting 1: Nidavellir Doors

Everyone's doing it, right? Right! I think...

Anyway, I've been wondering about those 2 Nidavellir doors. You know those paintings of Ice Giants fighting Dragons? Plus, the main boss is Jotun. Looking at Norse Mythology on Wikipedia, one of the 9 'worlds' in Norse Mythology, one is called Jotunheimr. Grizzleheim-Jotun? So this may mean the Nidavellir doors may hold secrets of the Ice Giants, and I'm guessing we'll learn about their past and their fights with Dragons. Oh, I forgot to mention Jotunheimr is a world of Rock and Frost Giants. It all sort of makes sense.

Now, here's the explanation of that Rainbow Bridge and Spiral Tree.

Bifrost, the bridge, is a burning one guarded by Heimdallr, pictured above. It reaches between the world of humans and gods. Heimdallr is guarding it from Jotnar, a race of nature spirits with superhuman strength, they are also called Jotun(n) and are giants from Jotunheimr, which further shows how the boss Jotun in Nidavellir got his name, a giant grendel as he is. Here's something else I found - "In Norse Mythology, Nidavellir (Dark fields) is one of the Nine Worlds and home of the Dwarves." Now, you may remember Grumlik, a small grendel who just sits there in Nidavellir. Whats his purpose? I suspect the giants of Jotunheimr took over Nidavellir, and Grumlik may need our help to take it back for the dwarf grendels in a future quest. No wonder I picked the school of Myth ;).

Pic of Niohoggr, a giant who knaws at Yggdrasil's roots (I'll get to that soon). He's a dragon, who, for all I know, just knaws at this huge World Tree's roots. So, did the Jotunheimr fight him? Is that the Dragon in the picture battling with the Frost Giant? I take it the Rock Giants look like Jotun, and the Frost ones like, well, Frost Giants. Maybe Niohoggr was a protector of Nidavellir of some sort and lost the battle? It's all very confusing.

Now into Yggrdrasil. Ygrrdrasil is a huge World Tree, the Nine Worlds existing around it.

First thought: Bartleby. I'd bet Kingsisle based Bartleby off Yggdrasil, as Bartleby co-created the worlds and holds the Spiral/World door inside. In Norse Mythology, an event occured called Ragnarok. The fate of Yggdrasil and many giants were here, and the world began anew. Nidavellir is a brief reminder of the Norse past, I suppose, ruins still holding from the Jotun's invasion and Ragnarok. What conclusions can you draw? Many other MMOs are based off this kind of stuff, and this is how I think Wizard101 is tied to it.

In conclusion, the 2 Nidavellir doors could be the ghosts of the Ice Giants and Niohoggr, waiting for someone to release them, and I suppose all those useless NPCs in Northgard plus Grumlik -a native dwarf of Nidavellir- may hold future quests for us to uncover Nidavellir's past. Maybe we'll fight that Ice Giant and release Niohoggr. What about the midget bears? Are they part of Nidavellir? Who knows? Its in the hands of Kingsisle :)

Kraken? Squid?

After a few unlucky fails vs. Mercenaries and a defeat of Karolak Nightspinner, Mycin made it into Stormriven Hall last night! It didn't take too long to get to the end of that, so he is now at the Storm Lord's Temple.

More importantly, I just barely squeezed past the XP bar before Tempus Stormfist, earning the big Level 55! ... And that ugly crafted robe. Thank goodness for spending the rest of your crowns for a decent looking robe afterwards. Looks like a football player dressed the wrong way or something :P.

Kraken statues are scattered around this place, and the huge eye in that gap is a mystery. Every few minutes, a monstrous tentacle, leg, or tail comes out of the canyon thrashing about for a couple moments, above. KRAK-A-BOOM! So, in real life Krakens are an Atlantic Ocean myth, sightings are atribituted to the rare Giant Squid. In this game though, Krakens barely have a resemblance to Squid in looks, dont'cha think? And there are Suction Cup things under the tentacle/arm/tailm, probably ruling out a Leviathan. Just a neat pic to share :) (and check out Mycin's stitched robe. Much improvement.) I've gotten the Crane and Crab Lamp now from CL Furniture, but the Driller keeps eluding me in the Bazaar -_-. Lastly, I never realized FanFics could be so long as I just read TNM (The Necromasters Matter) so far as it is. Thats some really unbelievable writing by Destiny Seagem of the 'Duo of Death', who deserve more hits for that much effort. You don't see me making FanFics that take over an hour to read yet, do you? I've also heard there's a long FanFic of another blogger, Sierra Winterbreeze. I need to make time to read that too. And, if your a blogger who is thinking of shutting down a blog because you simply get no comments, don't. I haven't got a comment in 5 posts, yet I know you guys are out there reading :P (yes, you feel like your talking to yourself in this position, but I know I'm not) Anyways, jus' saying if you have a legitimate reason to shut down a blog (IRL matters for example, as Ze Myth Master and My2Cents just did in terms of Wizard101) then we'll all miss you, but if its just no comments, frustration, I can assure you we read your posts!

Possible snowstorm tomorrow/Sunday. Still not sure if the system is going east out into the ocean or barreling along the coastline. If Track B (the awesome kind! :P) wins, then you can bet there won't be school Monday and maybe Tuesday. *crosses fingers*

Let's talk about Talos ( YAY Greek Mythology! ) Article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talos - He's the guard of Crete, birthplace of Zeus, throwing rocks at passing ships and sinking them, so no one can attack Crete. There's your tip for the day, and he is sometimes said a Robot, so Kingsisle did very well here in making him the culprit of Quicksilver. Happy Adventuring!

Son of the Triton - Part 2

The ground rumbled. Mycin fell over in the sand while a figure, and a huge dog shadowed him. "I

am Hades. You must prove you're worth to me before passing." "But, the Triton sent me to slay

Ladon, I'm already proving my worth." "I'm a God, I know that. You must do 1 more thing

before passing though... let's see if you can handle Cerberus."

"You mean...that 3 headed-beast? I don't think I can do such a thing." "He's not too vicious, and

you want those Apples, no?" "Uh, I guess. How can I handle it?" "Figure it out." Hades said, as

he descended into the ground from whence he came. "Grrr.." All of the 3 heads said at once.

Mycin sweated in terror at the sight. Figure it out? He thought... how? He just had his trusty

sword and water bottle with him. Maybe, if he threw water in all of the Cerberi's faces, he could

distract it and tame it while making sure it didn't overpower him with his knife. He had no more

time to think, as all of the Cerberi's teeth flashed and, while it was starting in the act of pouncing,

Mycin un-screwed his bottle and squirted. The Cerberus made a slight whimper but still had

fury, and Mycin kept spraying. Slowly taking out his knife, Mycin grabbed it's tail and locked the

3 heads together the best he could - The Cerberus seemed pinned. But this is an offspring of

Typhon and Echidna, 2 of the most horrible monsters ever lived, and it would not be tamed that

easily. Roaring and kicking, Mycin repeatedly nearly lost grasp, and was glad to see Hades

return soon. "I see you have it, although amateurly. You may pass." Mycin took a heavy breath

of air, and noticed his water was almost empty in the hot sun - he'd better find the Tree of the

Hespirides quickly! As the sun went down, it suddenly was very cold. Around Midnight, Mycin

figured, he found the Golden Apples. Ladon was snoozing under the tree, and Nymphs could be

seen everywhere also resting. Mycin found a torch nearby, to slay Ladon as the Triton had said.

Carefully stepping in the mist, he set fire to Ladon. The fire was so quick, Ladon couldn't make a

sound and turned into ashes - the Apples were his. But the Nymphs were light-sleepers. The

light quickly awakened them, and they turned back from their calm ways and screamed with

anger, it was a very un-earthly shreak that pierced even Zeus's ears. Even the Dryads swayed

their branches and screamed, but luckily, the nymphs were slow. But Mycin had been traveling

all day, and was just as sluggish as them at this time, he ran as fast as he could, forgetting his

water in the process. Soon, the Nymphs were out of sight, but he had no idea were the Ocean

was! Watching the Sunrise, he traveled the right way but became thirsty, the sun was again

beaming down on him. Just as he was struggling with thirst, the Ocean and Triton appeared - He

ran up the dunes and suddenly fainted. Much later, he awoke to a huge bed, and saw the Triton.

"You got dehydrated. One of the Gods bought you in, you were in the middle of the desert - you

could have perished!" "In the middle? But, I saw the Ocean, I saw you!" "What? That must have

been a mirage or Hallucination indeed. But you got the Apples, so you are now immortal!"

"So I go up to Mount Olympus now?" "You shall stay until your mortal body perishes, for now,

let's eat the Apples, you deserve it." The Apples were the best, crispest Apples ever imagined -

multiply that by 1,000 and that's how good it was. Suddenly, Mycin found himself sitting up in

his bed with the Full Moon overhead - it was all a dream...

Son of the Triton - Part 1

~ It was a dark and stormy night. Mycin had just finished beating Lord Nightshade for the day.

The Moon of the Haunted Cave appeared through a slit in the gloomy clouds. Some Pumpkin Pie

would be good right now, Mycin thought. Using his wizardly magic, Mycin teleported to his

Storm house thinking of the treat that awaited him from all that farming...he had gotten so

many pumpkins from the Ol' Wraith, who wasn't too cranky today. Glancing to the Triton

lightning-rod which always stood atop his Lighthouse, it seemed extra eerily glowing tonight,

almost like all of Zeus's lightning bolts had charged him up like Frankenstein's monster. The

exhaustion of the day set in as he carved out the Pumpkin's innards, and put the stove on... he

later fell asleep at his meal. The next day, Mycin decided to lessen Baron Mordecai's loot list he

kept of his drops - Walking through Triton Avenue, the many statues, again, seemed to glare

with life. A very sudden lightning-storm rolled in, as a bolt struck the Triton Mycin was resting

next to. "Come with me" the statue said, and before Mycin could say 'Mordecai' he was up in the

Triton's arms, flying over the seas. "You are my long lost son... I have been wanting to know you

for eons, so I've arranged a nice feast of shrimp for you." "Are you sure, that I'm your son?"

Mycin squeeked out. "Yes, it is said from the Oracle of Delphi that you are my son... my father

Poseidon sent you away to a Wizard school, and I haven't seen you since." The rest of the meal

was mainly silent, until Mycin piped "Since I'm your son... am I mortal or immortal?"

"Immortal. Zeus is your great-uncle. That is close enough." "So...I can see Mount Olympus?"

"Ah, ah, not until you earn your way in, or after a period of 500 years." "How can I earn my

way in?" "You must capture Ladon, offspring of the terrible Typhon and Echidna. Mother Earth

saw to it that Heracles did not kill him, and he still lives 'neath the bare golden Apple Tree."

"Where is this Apple Tree?" "Apples of the Hesperides. They lie west of the great Desert near

the Ocean." "You can't take me there?" "I cannot live on land, but I can take you to the shore

where the Apple Tree is a day's walk from there." Mycin was surprised at the feat he was

supposed to pull off. Asking another question "How do I kill Ladon?" "Ladon is very weak

nowadays, all you have to do is set fire to it" The Triton wished him luck on his journey, and

Mycin left the coast over the land searching for the Apple Tree.
