Ice Will Suffice

Happy kind of late blogaversary to me! Turns out I pretty much share the honor with fellow bloggers Swordroll and Talon Thunderblade. Happy blogaversary to you guys too (but I'm still older!) Maybe I'll do more of a celebration next year besides just remembering the fact.

In other news, this new Winterbane house dungeon sounds exciting, and the final boss has 30,000 health. The idea of progressively going underneath a small cabin to fight monsters is a fun prospect - kind of like a  Journey to the Center of the Spiral (I wish). I shall attempt my hand sometime soon, and hope to get good loot. I've barely even touched Arlen in the last few months (sorry, main characters).

More importantly though, my ice character is trudging through Avalon at about as fast a speed as you can go for an ice wizard. It's a nice change of pace considering I rarely die anymore. That's never fun.

The past 10 days have taken me from defeating an inhospitable owl to making a surprise return to a Celestian-like environment. Sophia is also so photogenic, she just has to pose after defeating meanie bosses.

Wouldn't want to fall over the edge into that...stuff.

I sense a pattern here. Is this like a universal chant? Even Morganthe likes saying it.

Aaand we're skipping ahead to the Lakeshore. I'm fine with that.

It's hard to believe I was making a post centering around this 11 months ago. Nice to be dueling in the rain again.

One of the few bosses in a while that actually killed me. No sympathy, especially with that zombie-look thing going on after dying :P

I've been having a few connection issues now and then, but I can't complain when the mobs starting walking on the water.

This little guy just wanted to say hi or something.

This was the coolest thing that's happened with my periodic connection bursts. I actually got to walk around the Marleybone Cannon Game as my Mammoth.

Kind of a strange setting for a baby Mammoth I must say.

Infinite training points and accuracy?! :D

Sorry, target, not today.

Uhhhh...

Seriously, get some new lipstick.

Thus ends my recent progress, upgrading from the bottom of a lake to some underground caverns.
I plan to hold Sophia at Ghost Avalon once I reach the dungeon, and then do it together my Life character Tarlac once I renew my membership this summer. I'll probably quest a bit slower anyway with exams coming up.

Things are looking bright after that, though - I'll probably even venture into Pirate101 this summer. I should think I'd have even more post material with that.

Happy Adventuring!

Coming Back To Life

4 long months. Woof. The title's a bit of a cliche, but it fits.
On the bright side, I only face end of the year projects and exams now. Then summer. And this time, my chances of having internet over the summer are much greater. Less sporadic posting until another busy school year then, maybe? Only time will tell.

The great thing about Wizard101 that keeps me playing is honestly the length and multi-taskability. In other words, I can defeat enemies and do home busywork (see: math and science worksheets) at the same time. Fighting mobs is completely a routine for me by now. It also helps that my second account relies on crowns, so I'm not paying anything at the moment, as that account already has 20,000 or so crowns. Alas, I let my main account's membership (Arlen and the other lads) run out in December, as I didn't have time for them anymore during the school year. However, that should change this summer, and I can finally finish Azteca. Yay!

As part of my continuous playing, I have made significant progress on 2 characters over the last few months. My secondary fire is now up to par with my main fire character, both being Legendary.
I've barely ever mentioned Dugan and Amy, come to think of it. Should probably give my fire characters some more cred :P

Wrapping up Dragonspyre, solo-style.

Fast forward to the Science Center. That was fast. Cheers for Efreet!

Alura, Arlen's myth counterpart, also got Medusa.

As usual, with level 58 comes ugly gear. I'll take it, though.

And then Basilisk. My, they level fast.

Zafaria was somewhat uneventful - a few henchmen were needed for a few battles, and ultimately some fellow wizards for Mirror Lake. I generally slogged through it, keeping from boredom with my trusty regular homework assignments. I even manifested my dislike of the general monotony into a list of quests I felt deserved a change, which I'll leave for another post. (Hey, I could always use new material.)

On another note, I finally managed to get Spritely on Alura's Rat Magician.. even if the other talents are somewhat lacking.

Good enough, I suppose.

Last but not least, I caught Alura up to Sophia (my ice character)'s level, getting to 75 at the tail end of The Wild in Avalon. I'd set Sophia aside until my storm character Mycin on my main account gained membership again so they could quest together, but I switched back to questing Sophia after Alura reached her level and now I'm just typing a really long and confusing run-on sentence. So basically, I opted for a switch in characters, as questing on a Myth for 2 worlds can get pretty repetitive. Thus, Mycin will now quest with Alura instead of Sophia when I get my membership back.

Thanks to a kindly M4H member, the Jabberwock was easily dispatched.
*cue clever pun*

..and into The Wyrd! The overall gloominess of the area is pretty fascinating to me, so, save the cursed Death Seraphs, The Wyrd and Dun Dara will be fun to do on a new character.

With that, I bid adieu until the next post, which will definitely not be months from now - really.

 Happy Adventuring!

A Farewell to J. Todd Coleman

As I got home from an early release day (yay for imminent snow showers), I perused Twitter and found some sad news. J. Todd Coleman, co-founder of Kingsisle, will be moving on from his current job to other business. So, I offer my best wishes to Mr. Coleman's future endeavors. Our community appreciates the work you've done very much (as I'll again be able to tell later by seeing other thank-you posts). Behind the scenes in a gaming company is no picnic - it's hard to appreciate how the employees at Kingsisle run Wizard101 and Pirate101, but it takes a lot of manpower at their facilities in Austin to keep things moving along. While we gather quests from our virtual teachers, behind every one is a persona - such as the Producer, Ms. Leah Ruben, aka Professor Falmea, who just helped my fire character get her Phoenix spell. Behind J. Todd Coleman is Headmaster Ambrose - who won't be leaving, obviously, but it will still be different. Behind Ambrose's face, someone will have to replace J. Todd Coleman. That in itself speaks to the magnitude of Mr. Coleman's efforts for Wizard101, and most recently, Pirate101.

On a lighter note, the following video is quite appropriate for this occasion.

(We'll miss you so much, can't help it, we're newbies)

Thank you, J. Todd Coleman, and remember -
Goodbye, good luck and Happy Dueling! (if I may borrow Friendly's phrase :P)
