Time and Money In KIFG Trivia

As I was pet training this afternoon, I stopped to listen to a group of wizards debating the worth of the new KI Free Games trivia. One of them was planning to do it just so they could buy Ravenscar (a hefty 1995 crowns). Grizzleheim by itself is worth nearly 10,000 crowns.

 A little background to this - www.freekigames.com released a new trivia feature to its site last Thursday. Passing at 75% (9/12) or better for any category means 10 free crowns ... which is two cents in real world value. However, you can do ten quizzes a day - game related or educational - for up to 100 crowns. How long, then, would it take a player solely supported by this Trivia to get to level 100? 

Here's a rundown (c = crowns, z = zones, pz = per zone) - - -

Wizard City Zone: 750c / 100 = 7.5 days pz                                                                              

Wizard City (3z): 2250c / 100 = 22.5 days

Krokotopia Zone: 915c / 100 = 9.15 days pz         

Krokotopia (12z): 10980 / 100 = 109.8 days                           

So far (15z): 22.5 + 109.8 = 132.3 days (over 4 months)          

(MB, MS, and DS all take 108 days to finish) 

Marleybone/Mooshu/Dragonspyre Zone: 1200c / 100 = 12 days pz

Marleybone/Mooshu/Dragonspyre (27z): 32400 / 100 = 324 days

So far (42z): 132.3 + 324 = 456.3 days 

This means that, to quest up to Malistaire's Lair, at least 15 months and a week of perfect trivia would be necessary to earn the 45k+ crowns to finish the First Arc. So, I wouldn't recommend getting by in Wizard101 this new way unless you absolutely love trivia and can take it real slow.

And that's not even the half of it.

(CL, ZF, and AV all take about 102 days to finish)
Celestia/Zafaria/Avalon Zone: 1695c / 100 = 17 days pz
Celestia/Zafaria/Avalon (18z): 30510 / 100 = 305 days
So far (60z): 456.3 + 305.1 = 761.4 days

(AZ and KR take about 120 days to finish)
Azteca/Khrysalis Zone: 1995 / 100 = 20 days pz
Azteca/Khrysalis (12z): 23940 / 100 = 239.4 days
So far (72z): 761.4 + 239.4 = 1000.8 days
Second Arc Total (30z): 544.4 days

To quest from Celestia to the end of Morganthe's reign would take nearly a year and a half. Add that to the First Arc total, and it's over 33 months to complete the game! Several new worlds in the Third Arc would likely be out by then. Basically, doing a daily dose of KIFG Trivia would get you through all the current main worlds before April, 2017, at a grand total of 100,080 crowns.

Although I won't go in-depth on Pirate101 pricing, I calculated that total as 88,712 crowns - or 887 days of trivia (almost 2 1/2 years). Considering the max level is at 65, that's a lot more than the price to reach 65 in Wizard101.

I actually do have a 3rd W101 account that I'm never going to willingly pay for.. so I *might* try a little experiment with KIFG crowns and leveling on that newbie account in the future.

Well, 3 weeks. That's a record I don't want to break anytime soon.

So, how do you all like whats been leaked and released in the past week? I swear, Kingsisle just goes dormant on us then packs a flurry of new stuff that leaves you reeling sometimes.

So, first, Wizard101 took the GDC Online Audience Award this year! Which means... 2nd Yellow Elf pet for me! I was a little dissapointed, as I already had one, but at least my 2nd account has one now too and hey, its better than nothing. Congratulations, Wizard101!

Onto more recent news, the Super Bundle was revealed several days ago, the 3rd huge Gift Card from W101. I got to see most of the Palace the other day, and it is epicly beautiful and an instant notch on the early Christmas list. As Amber Unicornflower put it, "Here comes the sun (palace) and I say..

It's awesome!"

Couldn't agree more.

Went through, seems the Gorilla likes giving Blood Moss to me, and the only sound was the distant monkeys and birds. Again, me wants. Seriously. Oh, and the rhino mount? Duel-boxing heaven. Giraffe? Only pet thats about as tall as us.

Also, from Walmart! Totally want a Bazaar Tapestry. Its basically the same sort of rewards as the Super Bundle except a house and $10 cheaper. I can't buy everything, so I probably won't buy this, but its sweet anyway. That outfit is scary. If you like hawks and/or have plenty to spend, don't hesitate to buy one of these.

And, of course, the dreaded teaser to something, apparently a world-version of the Sun Palace.

Katherine Lightwalker and KBB translated the little symbols at the top as "DOWN IN THE DEPTHS". Hmm. Don't tell me we're going underneath the river?! As the purple elephants imply, I'm guessing that this may be part of the next world, Yugo, as mentioned in Wysteria, where the helephant lives. It would make sense, as most elephants reside in an African-setting. Luke Goldhorn points out that Wizard101 stated they make announcements only when it is extremely close to open testing. But, could this be a repeat of Celestia, where they slowly brought out the wallpaper characters and 5+ months of eager waiting? Looks like we'll have to wait for another teaser to speculate more.

So, that just about wraps up the News/Opinion section, so I'll give an update on what I've been doing these past 3 weeks:






On a whim, with a failed hatch but a good Derby talent Teen pet, I dived back into pet-racing, this time with Mycin, for a little bit. If you're out for the Pet Derby, Teen-racing is definitely what I would recommend, with the slowest waiting times. I guess I still had some moves and experience from Arlen's days, as the picture shows.. unbeaten except for a loss of connection once!







Losing connection can really stink too, as you can see.

That makes 4 Inferno Salamanders on main account now. Used to think those were rare. Almost have all characters done with the back-and-forth Halloween quests, also had a Saturday with a big farming spree of the Towers, but no luck. Looks like Kensington & Tomb of Beguiler goodies are severely limited this year, which, well, stinks.

The Nightmare Pack = another love/hate relationship! I spent 3k out of my 4,500 crowns, splitting 10 between myself and a few good friends/community members. Got the hat, which, IMO, is the best fashion-statement since Mooshu and symbol-clothing ;). Got a few other tidbits, pretty worth it, but its hard NOT to buy those evil little packs. Mount looks sweet, but I have enough as it is :P

In other Wizard101 News, and, as I'm sure you know, is the Pet-a-Palooza! I'm not going to buy any of the pets, as you can get them through hatching with someone else too of course, but I just found out a couple other cool things! First, for just THIS month, you can win extra prizes, which include PETS! Even an Ianthine Spectre, should you be lucky & good enough ;). "Bonus Items" include Snacks from Rank 2 to Mega (received 2 Dragonhorned Melon from Doodle Dug at 20k scores), and Energy Elixirs. Read about it HERE. Quite a few have won some of the lowers, Death Scarabs and such. I want a Storm Beetle (very very old promo pet, I sold mine I think D:) and/or FOG Unicorn & Stormbat personally. No luck on those yet :). And, possibly even better, "there will be new pets released throughout the month of June". Can you spot 2 new ones in their commercial?

Well anyways, Ice Scarab & Patriotic Leprechaun pets were spotted here! I'm pretty sure the Leprechaun will be in the new 4th of July vendor that Kingsisle hinted a while ago, and Ice Scarab, Crowns/Drop or both, maybe another promo? We'll see :). And thats probably the beginning. Woot! Is hoping..

For my Characters, I've managed to get some things done, like checking every night on my Garden for one ;P

King Parsley is apparently hanging on to his blue suede shoes and is afraid to go Elder. LOL, I'll harvest the stubborn fellow tonight :P

Didn't know this dropped. I just wanted another Wu Picture for my House! lol, I didn't even know that Athame existed to be honest. Was like 'What the heck? O_O'

Handshake ^_^. I just need to craft 2 Warrior Statues around the PvP Ring & I may be done with the outside. Maybe, as in, still have trouble thinking of what to put out there as its still pretty bare :P. For the inside, I just need 2 Moon Icons and a Celestian Fern. 5 not-so-hard items! :D next post might just be my showcase of the CL Observatory. For MS House, I got 2 items closer to finishing, 1 Wild Bamboo & a Dark Green Silk Kimono. About the Kimono, I farmed Fushiko once for 3 hours, got one thing I needed, but never got the Kimono (it was technically a rumor then that it dropped from Fushiko, photo-proof was shown on Central just recently) and I found it in the Bazaar, was about as surprised and happy as getting that Gear Rack & Bodkin of the Hearty (is it just me, or am I learning about a lot of new items recently?! :P). To finish off, I need:

Ymir back in his "icy fastness". Speaking of which, I'll hopefully complete Jotun today, too, so Ravenscar is next, but I don't think I'll have the Crowns for a couple days at least :/. They are resetting the Test Realm (pretty bad news, off for a whole day, BUT hopefully they fixed all of the bugs found) so thats probably news that Wintertusk won't arrive in the LR for at least another week, giving Sophia more time. LvL 60 (Waterworks runs) + completion of GH (Wintertusk) vs. the ticking clock of WT going Live. Okay, I'm guessing I'll need 20k more Crowns to buy the rest of the game, hopefully I can convince parents for me to spend $60 on the Crowns deal again (and I'll still have a lot of Crowns for other things left over, maybe gift Arlen something :P). See, they are hesitant on me spending my own $$$ on a game, lol. Hopefully I can buy some (heck, I'll even wash the dishes -.-) so, until next time -

We're not in Unicorn Way with Dorothy Gale anymore, Sprockets. But hey, thanks for the compliment, jealousy & lying -he didn't mess it up..-

I couldn't find the right cards and got crushed twice by Bellows. 3rd time interestingly enough, was a different story - complete rout. In Big Ben, with a lot of running back and forth, I made it to Spike the Crusher, went second and again couldn't find the big stock of Blizzards I had.. so had to bring in Arlen, I died, teleported back while stupidly killing Spike before Sophia got in the fight again and got nothing. You get the point :P. Meowiarty was a great fight -yes, solo-, and it ended up with me having no more attacks, an Ice Minion out, and waiting on pips for a good Ice Absorb, Meow had 800 health. So, Collossus' Ice Shark got in quadruple digits, and I figured he totally had the aggro from Meowiarty. Wrong. Meowiarty surprised me with a Storm Shark (I had 400 health) and an earlier Feint backfired on that, so I died, NEARLY winning. Meow's minions were gone, so I took him down quickly after porting back up to Arlen. And, as they say, it wasn't all bad. See picture above - Hop-Hopping Wand drop ;).

"See, Mr. Pembroke, if you had only allowed me to get the Krokonomicon earlier, none of this would've happened." *cricket chirps*

And after Mooshu introductories plus more MB sidequests (I know, I got to MS very quickly, but I DO have a ton of side quests to go back to), Sophia was LvL 35! I LOVE that kitty hat. Stitch it when I become Legendary? Duh..

And, on end notes, tomorrow Spring Break starts :D. Plus we have this awesome Conjurer Chant to say (GREAT drawing, Cass) to end the day. How many times has a creature spewed (like a Troll ^_^) words claiming to be greater then you, and you go on to whoop them? "Sudden end, indeed". And I think Grubb is a myth again, right?
